Interesting sites to visit by car in South Africa
South Africa has much to offer the discerning visitor when it comes
to spectacular landscapes, amazing animals and fascinating people.
The Kruger National Park is an iconic game reserve that you can
drive around in at your leisure, and if you’ve got your own
hire car, you won’t have to do it with a bunch of people who
may very well spoil it for you. Far better to be in your own 4x4
rental vehicle where you can enjoy some peace and quiet and see
the big five on your own terms on a self-drive safari.
If you’re going on a touring holiday in the Western Cape,
with its scenic Winelands, Garden Route and whale watching hotspots,
a hire car is a must. The mountain passes are spectacular, and Table
Mountain is a sight to behold, especially when covered with the
‘tablecloth’. With the Indian and Atlantic Oceans flanking
it, the Cape has nearly 1,000 kilometres of magnificent coastline,
and a host of wild life parks, including the West Coast National
Park, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, the Kogelberg Biosphere
Reserve, the Tsitsikama National Park and the De Hoop Nature Reserve.
Kwazulu Natal has many spectacular sights and enjoyable drives
along its many kilometres of subtropical coastline, with the Drakensberg
Mountains a must see destination for anyone with a yen to see amazing
landscapes. Battlefields is an area of gorgeous terrain where many
of the Anglo-Boer War’s battles took place, and its history-steeped
expanse of rolling veld dotted with knotty hillocks can be best
appreciated from the comfort of a luxury hire car, so you can stop
to take pictures whenever you feel the need.
Johannesburg and Gauteng have much to offer in the way of historical
battlefields, art galleries and museums, with numerous game reserves
and places or interest within easy driving distance of the city,
which makes having your own hire car a necessity, rather than a
luxury.
